Oregon Deer Seasons

Specialty permits are required for many of Oregon’s deer seasons, which are controlled hunt seasons. All archery hunts in eastern Oregon will be controlled, but none in western Oregon will be.

Oregon Cougar Seasons

The cougar season lasts until December 31 or until all quotas for area hunting are met. It is against the law to take female cougars and spotted kittens together.

Oregon Crossbow Regulations

Crossbow Specific Regulations: In Oregon, crossbow hunting is against the law. However, many turkey hunters prefer to keep their deer/elk hunting bows’ draw weight under 45 pounds for turkey.

Oregon Hunting License

Licenses for hunting are valid from January 1 to December 31. On December 1st of the previous year, you can begin purchasing your license for the following year. Please contact the licensing staff at ODFW at 503-947-6101 with any inquiries.
